Wow! What an exciting time to be involved with the Covington Recreation Department. This year was a great year for our basketball program as the teams were very competitive, the coaches instructed, and the parents cheered. There was fun for every one. then of course, the season was concluded with the usual C. R. D. bash, where there was food, drinks, music, and trophies.

"Take me out to the old ball game" at the ball park. Yes, signed, sealed and delivered was our new recreation complex, which has four new diamonds, new scoreboards, and a state of the art concessions stand. History was made this year of 2008 as the Ribbon-cutting was a part of our Opening Day Ceremony. This year was such a festive time with balloons flapping, hot dogs cooking, and kids yelling. What a time.

Covington Recreation News

Peter Atkins Park Pool:
The swimming pool opened June 12, 2008. The pool usually opens for operations by Mayor Candace Watkins' "Canon Ball", however this year the Mayor was out of town. So, the City Attorney, Deborah Foshee opened the pool for swimming with a beautiful swan dive with about 25 youngsters following her. The pool was applauded and praised for repairs, which has given it a new look. On that opening day the swimming pool, there were 149 swimmers that enjoyed the cooling of the water.
